He died in front of his house in a street-car accident, and was interned on August 24, 1925.

Joseph Benjamin Bierly, son of Milton and Phoebe Bierly, was born September 13, 1879 and died from injuries by being struck by a street car on August 21, 1925 at the age of 45 years, 11months, and eight days.
He was one of a family of ten children, three sisters - Mrs. Alice Roberts (sic; Robert), Mrs. Hattie House, Mrs. Jose Shields, and six brothers – Frank, Art, Herbert, Cleve, Everett and Ralph. The latter preceded him in death eight months ago. His entire life was spent in this community with the exception of the last fourteen months when he and his family have resided in Dayton.
He was a member of the local Reformed church being confirmed under the pastorate of Rev. Keller. He served as superintendent of the Sunday School for several years and was a faithful worker in the church service as a member of the Consistory for four years.
In December of 1905, he was united in marriage with Katie Whipp. To this happy union three children were born – Etta, age 19 years, John, age 17 years, and Kathryn, age 15 years, all being at home.
He was of an unusually kind disposition, always being able to look on the brighter side of life. He possessed a noble character and in his death the community loses a good honest citizen and the family a kind and affectionate husband and father.
His sudden passing has caused a pall over the entire community and the heartfelt sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved family in this hour of their great sorrow.

(Ben) Bierly, killed when struck by a Third street car at Bish avenue and West Third street, Dayton, August 21, 1925, has been filed in Montgomery county common pleas court by the victim's widow, Katie E. Bierly, also executrix of her late husband's estate.
The petition charges the railway company operated its car at an unlawful rate of speed and die to negligence of the part of the operator of the car, her husband was struck and knocked to the ground and received injuries that resulted in his death.
The Bierly's formerly resided south of Lewisburg.
