Donald Wymore was born in 1916, the only child of Harley and Hannah Wymore, (buried nearby). He attended the University of Nebraska where he studied Engineering. However, engineering was a five year program and at the end of four years he accepted his ROTC commission as a 2nd Lieutenant US Army. he was promoted to 1st Lt and was part of Patton's tank corp, (which ultimately was instrumental in winning the Battle of the Bulge) but contracted measles and nearly died. After a prolonged stay at Walter Reed hospital in Washington DC, he was honorably discharged. After he returned, he failed to pick up the few remaining credits. Instead, he used the skills he had learned up to that point to become a draftsman, as well as a very talented artist. On August 31, 1940, he married Lillian Maurine Brobst, in a marriage that lasted almost 46 years until her death. They had two children-- Richard Lynn, and Robert Dean who died as an infant, and is buried nearby. In 1960, he moved his family to Omaha, where they would spend their remaining time together in the house that he designed himself. He would himself live in this house until Maurine's death in 1986, when he was moved to the Presbyterian Manor in Kansas City, Kansas, in order to be close to his family. Eventually, he fell deeper into Alzheimer's disease, which ultimately led to his death in 1995. While his parents had a plot next to theirs intended for him, he and Maurine wished to be buried together, so Robert was buried there instead, while Donald and his wife are buried nearby. He is survived by his son Richard, and three grandchildren, including myself.
