On July 5, 2006, Mike Thatcher, a computer analyst for USA Mobility, located in Plano, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mike, who was a spirited drummer, has one final gig in the Heavenly band, directed by Jesus.

His mother Ruth, of whom he was so proud, preceded Mike in death. Ruth was a WASP (Women's AirForce Service Pilot) during World War II, flying planes from a base in Sweetwater, Texas.
Born in Oak Cliff, Mike lived in several other states but lived and worked for most of his life in the metroplex. After marrying Sherill Sitz, in 2003 he lived in Fort Worth.

Mike learned to play drums at the tender age of 15 and played in bands for the rest of his life. He played in "The Abstracts", "Blues Image (Ride Captain Ride),"The John Early Band" "Free and Easy", "Ancient Winds", "River of Life", "Ted Lovin and the Live Wire Choir", "Bobby and Beth and the New West" and many others.

Viewing was at Laurel Land in Dallas. Services for Mike were held on Monday, July 10, 2006, at the Tyler St. United Methodist Church at 927 W. 10th St in Dallas on what would have been his 57th birthday. He was interred at Laurel Land, 6000 S. RL Thornton in Dallas.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Sherill Thatcher of Fort Worth, a daughter Rebecca Thatcher of Dallas, his father Gerald Thatcher of Dallas, two stepsons Daniel and Michael Smith of Fort Worth and by numerous friends.
