Thetus Chaplin Crews, 87, of Waycross died Sunday afternoon at Baptist Village after a brief illness. She was a native of Effingham County and lived in Jamestown for most of her life. Ms. Crews was a homemaker and a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church and attended Hebardville United Methodist Church.

Her parents were the late Johnny and Palma McClellen Chaplin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse L. Crews, two sons, Danna Ray Crews and Tracy L. Crews, Sr., seven brothers, Fenton, Dant, William, Joe, Trolley, Vinson and Rodell Chaplin, two sisters, Leona Carter and Odie Taylor.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy E. Chancey (husband Charles), Waycross, Alcine Duckworth, Waycross, Lanna K. Williams, Waycross, two sons, Jesse Lloyd Crews, II, (wife Sharon), Bell, FL, Terry W. Crews (wife Janet), Willacoochee, GA, one brother, Johnny Hubert Chaplin, Jacksonville, FL, 16 grandchildren, Jesse L. Crews, III, Maurice Crews, Leif Crews, Carse Crews, Vanessa Moseley, Thetus Ann Reed, Gail Fullard, Sheryl Griffin, Tracy Crews, Jr., Corey Crews, Tammy King, Kisha Music, Will Smith, Jessica Crews, Sarah Abdul-aziz and Matthew Crews, numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from seven until nine p.m. at the funeral home.
