Roland was born to Bohumil and Mary (Zgozar) Oravecz. He had one sister Betty and the parents divorced. Roland was sent to live with other family members and Betty went with their mom. Later he was reunited with his mom and sister. Mary had remarried to William H. Canary. They had three sons, Frank, Jim and Fred, half brothers to Roland and Betty.
Roland married Mina A. Moon They had five children. Donnie Roland, Patsy Jean, Kenneth Wayne, George Lee and Judy Kaye. Roland worked for many years for the Fox-Smyth Truck Lines as a mechanic. They had 12 grandchildren, Jimmy, Deborah and Jerry Yates; Scott, Lesa, Keith, Michael, Jennifer and Kevin Oravetz; Gayla, Jan and Jill Humphrey. After Mina died in 1979, he married Hazel Thomas February 14,1981. He became ill in 1993 and died of natural causes, in South Community Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
