David John Grobe was an amazing person. He touched so many people in his short life. What follows is a feeble attempt to do justice at describing a person who was truly a gift from God. Dave was a son, a husband, a brother, a father, a teacher, a scoutmaster, and many other things to many other people. Son of Herbert F. and Leona Bernice. Brother of Elizabeth, Malcolm, Edward and Barbara. Husband of Edah Rose Shaver. Father of Steven Edward and Sherry Lynn. Grandfather of Guinevere Rose. Teacher and Scoutmaster to countless hundreds or thousands of individuals. During his 57 years on earth, David John Grobe impacted so many lives that it makes a person take pause. Dave was the second-born child of Herbert and Bernice Grobe, after his older sister, Elizabeth, and before his younger siblings, Malcolm. Edward, and Barbara. Dave and Edah had two children, Steven and Sherry. Steve and Sherry may not have realized the quality of their upbringing at the time, but they were lucky to have their parents. They say that you can't choose your family, but they were truly blessed to have been raised by David and Edah Grobe. Their mom instilled a sense of responsibility and independence that would help them both to prosper as adults. Their father provided them with leadership and guidance that would serve them throughout their lives. Dave taught Machine Shop at Maine West High School, and he showed many young men how to make a living as tool and die makers. He also was a Scoutmaster for BSA Cub Pack 151, and his leadership surely impacted hundreds of boys' lives. He served on the school board of District 57, improving the education of thousands of children in Mt. Prospect. He was active at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect, and he was particularly involved with their July 4th parade entries and in this role, he provided many youth with a purpose during summer months when they might have just as easily found trouble. This summary of David John's life is written by his son. Is it biased? Perhaps. Is it accurate? I believe so.

Many thanks to my brother, Steven for writing Dad's bio.
