Mary Therese Crossin was born in Kingston, Pennsylvania, the eldest of three daughters of Joseph and Marguerite Gallagher Moran. Mary Therese graduated from Kingston High School in 1947, and the Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business. Prior to her marriage, she worked in the business office of the Bell Telephone Company in Wilkes Barre, PA. She married John 'Jack' Crossin on January 29, 1955. They had a daughter, Ellen Crossin Shedletsky, and a son, John 'Jay' Crossin. Mary Therese was active in her community, and had a wide social circle. She had six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren at the time of her death. She was a breast cancer survivor, beating the disease twice in her life, decades apart. She passed away from an unrelated illness at Wilkes Barre General Hospital in 2007.
