Several census records indicate that Samuel was from South Carolina (many also indicate Pendleton in Anderson County). However, a photo of his gravestone on Ancestry.com says that he immgrated from England which is contrary to what records show. It's unknown who bought the gravestones for Samuel and his wife, as both markers also indicate that dates of birth and death are unknown. It's possible that family members (or the church where he ministered?) simply wanted to insure that he and his wife were given the honor of being permanently marked and went with what info they had been given.

He was the first Pastor for the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church which was organized April 10, 1813 (near Collins, GA). The historical marker to the front/right of the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church mentions him (see attached image of marker.) More can be read about Samuel and his family - both ancestors and descendants - at this link: http://showingmyroots.com/strange.htm (he's about an 8th of the way down the page under "Generation No. 7".)

Samuel is a direct descendant of William d'Aubigny and Adeliza Louvain of Brabant - his 21st Great Grandmother - and so thus is a direct descendant of Charlemagne as well (Charlemagne was Adeliza's 8th Great Grandfather.)
