This memorial is dedicated to my great Grandfather Henry Melvin Oliver.
Henry was the son of Moses Henry Oliver and Nancy Elizabeth Oliver.
Both his parents died between 1880-1890 and he was raised by his paternal grandfather
John Paul Oliver
.
He first married Lucinda Lenore Oliver on February 05, 1902 in Eddyville, Lyon County, Kentucky. They had six children,
Allen, Otho, Adel, Alice, Eurie, Wallace,
Lucinda died March 24, 1913, due to complications of child birth.
He next married Martha Morgan on September 11, 1915, in Eddyville, Lyon County, Kentucky. They had four children
Tuck, Mary Edna, J.P. and Melvin

My great grandfather loved to garden and he also had fruit trees. What I remember with the fondest of memories is that one Easter we went to visit and he told me the Easter Bunny had come and for me to look around the yard. I was expecting colored eggs instead I found fruit in the lower Y of the tree trunks.

Henry helped build the Hoover Dam.
They wouldn't hire him at first because they thought that he was to old so he went home and dyed his hair black, returned the next day and was hired. He later injured his back and had to wear a metal back brace for years. He was not compensated for his injury.
