Officer George M. Brentar was killed in the line of duty on October 10th, 2007. The Euclid, Ohio husband and father was 49 years old, and left behind a legacy that his family, friends and co-workers continue to be proud of, and keep alive.
Mr. Brentar is remembered as having once chased down and caught a bank robber half his age, and he organized a yearly fishing tournament for kids at risk; he was greatly involved in all activities which stressed to young people that drugs were not a necessary rite of passage. The fishing tournament continues to be held yearly, in memory of Officer Brentar. When asked to take over the management of Mr. Brentar's page, I was very proud to do so, and I felt that the small capsule of information about this gentleman should end with some sort of thought regarding the men and women who protect us on a daily basis; I am not arrogant enough to quote myself, and so I will just add this, from the author James McGreevey:
"Firefighters, police officers and state troopers place themselves in harm's way every day, every week, every year. These are the men and women, along with our military, who should be called 'heroes', and told 'Thank You'.
