Edwin Patrick was one of the earliest settlers of Omaha, Nebraska.

Edwin was the son of Reuben (Jr.) and Betsey Patrick, born in Attica, New York on Dec 8, 1825.  He had three brothers, Lafayette, William and George. 

In 1853 he married Sarah Octa Goodwill, who was living with her parents, Taylor and Lucy Goodwill, in Alexander, Genesee County, New York in 1850.

On May 7, 1855 Edwin and Sarah settled in Omaha, Nebraska, some of the earliest settlers of the area.  In fact, Edwin was a member of "The Old Settlers' Association of Omaha and Douglas County." He was listed on the 1856 Territorial Census for Omaha, Nebraska.

On the 1860 U.S. Census, his occupation was listed as a farmer.  Their children were Frank, 7 years; Edwin, 3 years; and Cary, 1 year.

On Oct 24, 1862, at the age of 36, he enlisted in the Union army.  On Jan 22, 1863 he was commissioned as a Captain in Company K, Nebraska 2nd Cavalry Regiment.  He was mustered out on December 23, 1863.

In the book, "Andreas' History of the State of Nebraska", he was listed as the City Assessor in 1867.  In 1868, he became a member of the Omaha City Council.

On the 1870 U.S. Census, his occupation was listed as Dairyman.  Their children were Frank, 16; Eddie, 12; Carrie, 11; and Jenny, 2.  Edwin's mother, Betsey, was living with them at this time. Betsey was 70 years old.
