Mrs. French worked as a bookkeeper for Berger Furniture Store, as a cashier/ bookkeeper for Newmark's Drive-In Grocery Store from 1941-1951, and had co-owned a refrigeration business with her husband, working as office manager from 1951-1962.
She was a former member of the Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma sorority and held many offices in the organization. She served as president of the Centennial School Parent Teacher's Association from 1939-1941. She enjoyed crocheting, making crafts, and she made her own clothes for many years. She was a good cook, making the best noodles in the whole world (in the no-doubt biased opinion of her granddaughters!).
She is survived by a daughter, Eloise Dowell; four granddaughters, Vonda J. Dowell, Karen S. Eastridge, Beverly R. Minniear; and Mary L. (husband Mike) Corbin, all of Lafayette; also four great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters, and four great-great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband, parents; siblings, Robert A. Larson, Aneta Larson Castor, Lewis Eugene Larson and Victor L. Larson; and son-in-law, William D. Dowell.
