Centenarian. Jessie was born to Oliver and Rachel (Rogers) Syfert. She lived her entire life in Herrick. Jessie was a Herrick telephone operator, member of the Herrick Christian Church (Sunday school teacher for children ages 3-5 for 45 years), member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and Peace Meals; she married Benjamin "Bennie" Otis Landers February 28, 1928 in Lincoln Park, Michigan; she was the mother of four children: Leah Mae, Betty Ann, Raymond Dean, and Laura "Loraine". On Jessie's 90th birthday she went horseback riding with several of her grandchildren. On her 85th birthday she went for a motorcycle ride with her grandson, Eric. Jessie loved playing cards, she was a great cook, and was always baking a cake or baking something for someone. She lived her entire life in Herrick and stayed active and was still driving in her 90s. Although Jessie was very tiny she was one TOUGH LADY. She is loved and missed by her three daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. Waiting to greet her at Heaven's Golden Gate were her husband, Bennie; her son, Raymond; her parents; and her three brothers, Elmer, Homer, and Noble Syfert.
