He was the first son and second of eight children of Charlie and Fannie Lopp Everhart. On 24 Nov 1928, in York County, SC, he married Minnie Lee Everhart, of Davidson County, NC. They returned to Davidson County, and had four children, two daughters and two sons. He was employed with Carolina Power & Light, working first in Davidson County, then Montgomery County and finally, Richmond County, as a line foreman, and retired from the company after 41 years. He was made a member of CP&L's elite Pioneer Club. During WWII, he was a part of the home guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Rockingham, and a Civitan. He raised quarter horses and won many trophies and ribbons with them. His grandson, Allen is buried in the family plot, also. He is survived by a son, Leslie; two daughters Dorothy and Rose; two brothers and three sisters; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
