S/O Milford M., Sr. & Bertha Virginia (Johnson) Pittman. Nicknamed 'Phantom'. 1961 graduate of Altoona High School, he earned his BS & MS in education and counseling at Shippensburg Univ., where he excelled in football and baseball. His career path included teaching and counseling positions in Altoona; Derry; Shippensburg Univ.; Cheyney Univ.; Dickinson College; the Harrisburg and Carlisle school districts. He coached at several schools and officiated at numerous local, district, regional and college sporting events, including championship tournaments at the Univ. of North Carolina, Clemson and Princeton universities. In 1976, he was the first black person to officiate at the PA State Wrestling Championship. A member of the Big 33 Scholarship Committee, he was a PIAA Wrestling Official for 38 years. In 2003, he retired and was employed part-time by Harrisburg Auto Auction. Resided on Center st., Carlisle. He attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Carlisle, loved playing golf and spending time with family and friends. Predeceased by sister, Daisy Louise Pittman, 1/16/1995. Milford leaves to honor his legacy, his son, M. Maurice (Elizabeth, spouse) Pittman III, Harrisburg; two sisters, Nancy Estelle Pittman, in California and Florence Brenda Frazier, Steelton; grandson, Amirh Pittman; goddaughter, Virginia Jackson; nephew, Jeffrey Pittman; niece, Rhonda Hart; relatives and friends.
