Father, Hammond Coleman, mother Mellie Coleman. He married Rhoda Repass in 1880. He was born in Missouri, died in Pike County Ky. He was 104 yrs old at the time of his death. He grew up in Missouri on a farm near Jesse and Frank James. Stories were told that he rode with the James boys, but he never admitted nor did he deny it.

Excerpts taken from an article written about him. He was 104 yrs old at the time:

He was born in Missouri on Nov 22, 1846. **Dave Coleman was indeed born in 1846, I will post the death certificate with the dates on it.** While still a young man he came to Ky and made his home at Regina. There he married Rhoda Repass, who died some twenty yrs later. To them were born 6 children.

In the early days back in Missouri, he often visited with the family of Frank and Jesse James. He was born only twenty miles from the James home and during his boyhood, became a fast friend of the family. He says that he will never cease to be amazed and grieved by the course the boys took.

Mr. Coleman is was an advocate of moderation in all things. He said that he has chewed tobacco for a large part of his life and that he has always taken liquor in moderate quantities. "I keep a little around the house for snake bites," he said with a twinkle in his eyes....
