Melvin Cox is our beloved Daddy and Pampa. Mel was the son of Richard Monroe Cox and Cora Parrish Cox. He was the oldest of 6 boys. He was married to his wife, Johnie Allene Berry Cox, for 68 years. They had two children: Betty Lou and Leon.

Mel and Johnie lived in the San Juan, Texas of the Rio Grande Valley for 50 years before moving to Baptist Memorial Village in San Angelo, Texas in 1991. While living in The Valley they were active members of Peoples Chapel. Mel was a leader in the church and was loved by all. He was a Sunday school teacher with a special ministry to unchurched youth. He was a past president and longtime active member of San Juan Lions Club.

His grandchildren are:
Susan "Su-z" Diane Smith (Kleinhans)
Carlton L. Smith, Jr. (Buddy)
Shella Kay Smith (Graves)
Caren Leanne Cox (Kellogg)
Drew Leon Cox
Scott Thomas Cox
Jeffrey Frank Smith

He also has many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Pampa is loved and missed very much.
