Barbara was the daughter of the late James and Eva (Hamilton) Slaughter; the sister of Lloyd Slaughter; the wife of Walter Zuk and the mother of Connie Zuk Nisinger. She was formerly employed in the Roxana School District at Rosewood Grade School as a library assistant and later was employed at the Wood River Public Library. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1308 and the Eagles Aerie #254 in Alton and was a volunteer at Operation Blessing in Wood River for many years.
