My Mom told me Grandma never liked her name. It appears that she was named after her Grandfather, Jesse. Grandma converted to Catholism after her third child was born. I have never met a more devout Catholic.

She also did housekeeping for people. She cared for her Mother-in-law and Father-in-law after my Grandfather's death until their deaths one month apart. In her later years, she was the Head Cook at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.
Of her nine (now ten) grandchildren at the time of her death, eight of them belonged to my Mother. My brother, George always called her "Go-Go" when he was little because he couldn't say "Grandma". Mom always said Grandma spoiled us and that if she had known her great-grandchildren, there would be "no living with them".
She babysat us while my Mom was in the hospital delivering my twin brother and sister. My Dad called her to let us know they had arrived. When she got off the phone, I asked her if they were boys or girls. I will always remember that she said "I don't know. He won't tell me!". Dad knew she wouldn't be able to keep it a secret because he wanted to tell us.
After her retirement at age 70, she joined the Senior Citizens organization. She took a trip with them to Washington, DC about a week before her death. She had an enlarged heart with a twisted aorta. She very peacefully died in her sleep of a massive heart attack. We knew it was peaceful because her blankets hadn't been disturbed.
