John 'Jack' Robert Crossin was the son of the late Frank P. Crossin and Margaret (Boyle) Crossin. He graduated from Luzerne High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy from June 19, 1945 until August 9, 1946, just before the end of World War II. He attended Villanova University on a basketball scholarship and was on the 1950 team that was a national championship runner-up. He played professional basketball in the Eastern League for the Williamsport Billies. He married Mary Therese Moran on January 29, 1955. They had two children, Ellen Crossin Shedletsky and John 'Jay' Crossin. He was the first lay teacher at the former West Wide Central Catholic High School, now Bishop O'Reilly High School, Kingston, and was also the basketball coach and athletic director. While at Central Catholic, he coached the 1965 team to the Eastern State Finals. He later taught and coached at the Elmer L. Meyers High School, Wilkes Barre. He owned and operated the Dallas Driving Range, Dallas, for 20 years. Later, he founded the Jack Crossin Real Estate and Insurance Company, Inc., Kingston. He was a member of the Wilkes Barre Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. An avid golfer, he belonged to the Irem Golf Club, Dallas. Jack loved jokes and games and organized all kinds of contests for relatives to play at Christmas. They usually involved putting a golf ball to hit a bell, tossing ping pong balls into a bucket, or shooting baskets in the back yard despite the cold.
