Michael Scott Argabrite, 33, of Murrells Inlet, died Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Scott was born in Fairmont, West Virginia, a son of Pastor Michael Ray and Barbara Elaine Argabrite. Scott was a graduate of Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania where he was two time All-American in basketball. Coach A, as he was known to his students, was employed with Horry County School District for eight years. He taught five years at Socastee Elementary School and three years at St. James Middle School. Scott coached both the B-Team football and the B-Team basketball teams in the St. James area.
Surviving Scott are his wife, Lisa Bishop Argabrite and one daughter, Whitney Marie Argabrite, both of Murrells Inlet; his parents, Pastor Michael and Barbara Elaine Argabrite of Kingwood, W.Va.; three brothers, Jon Argabrite and wife, Cindy, Jay Argabrite and wife, Rachel, all of Kingwood, W. Va., and Timothy Matthew Argabrite and wife, Shelley, of Bridgeport, W.Va.; three nieces, Gracie, Caroline, and Anna; three nephews, Seth, Adam, and Nathaniel; his maternal grandparents, Bill and Betty Decker of Kingwood, W.Va.; mother and father-in-law, Frances and George Bishop; sisters-in-law, Delina Bishop and Stephanie Bishop Banjak; brother-in-law, George Bishop, all of Surfside Beach; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Christ United Methodist Church behind the former Waccamaw Pottery. Burial is to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Revs. Benjy Simmons and Michael Ray Argabrite will be officiating.
A memorial service is planned at Preston High School Auditorium in Kingwood, W.Va., on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at 4 p.m.

On March 25th 2007, Scott Argabrite was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. Scott died six months later on September 20th. He leaves behind his young wife Lisa and a two year old daughter named Whitney.
Scott was a three sport stand out at Preston H.S. in Kingwood WV, class of 92, earning All-State honors in both basketball and track. He continued his basketball career at Waynesburg College being named to the Div. III All-American team his Junior and Senior years.
At the time of his death Scott, "Coach A", was teaching and coaching at St. James Middle School in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Scott lived and coached with a heart full of love and a willingness to share it with others. Therefore, The Scott Argabrite Foundation has been established to allow this heart of love to continue to touch the lives of young student-athletes in both SC and WV.
In Myrtle Beach a scholarship has been established in Coach A's memory. Initially, it will be awarded to a graduating senior of St. James High School who played for Scott and later to an individual desiring to be a teacher.
In Kingwood a Memorial Park is being planned. The Scott Argabrite Memorial Park will include playground equipment for children, a fitness trail, and two covered basketball courts.
Finally, there will also be assistance provided to needy athletes in both WV and SC for summer basketball camps as funds are available.
