Willie Roger Brown was born in Mississippi, in 1921. He joined the Conservation Corp, and then the Army. He fought in WW2, in the Pacific Theatre. He went on to start boxing, and met Joe Lewis, becoming Mr. Lewis' sparing and training partner. Willie won the golden glove, though the year is unknown at this time.

He met and married Barbara Jean Cato (1943-2005), in 1960, and from their union, had 7 children. Their oldest son, Curtis Brown, proceeded both parents in death.

Willie Brown passed away quietly, in his sleep, surrounded by his childrens photos and mementos, and listening to his favorite jazz musicans on the radio.

Barbara Cato Brown, his wife, passed away 6 years later, and rejoined the man she loved.

Willie Brown is truly missed by those who loved him, including his children.

"when life takes away something so precious as a loved one, it's hard to cope. Sometimes, it's hard to live...
But, we go on everyday, hoping that the Lord finds in his tender mercy, a way for us to find each other again..."

You will be missed, and forever loved...
