Old Granny, as I called her, was very special to me. She would always fix me the best chicken and dumplings (without the chicken) any time I visited. She was one of the best cooks in our family. Her corn that she grew in her garden was the best in the world! I remember her always having visions in her dreams. Most of them came true. She once told me she knew I would marry before my brother, and she was right. She always seemed to know things that most of us couldn't have known. Her hair was the prettiest and longest hair I have seen on anyone. She would always braid it and then roll it into a bun on her head. I miss her cooking and her warm hugs. She was a very special Great-Grandmother to me and always will be.

Granny and I loved watermelon more than anyone else in the family. Our very favorite was yellow & orange mellons. She had so many stories (that are now know as old-wives tales). When I had chicken pox she wanted to kill a rooster and put me in a metal tub and have me bathe in the water with the rooster's blood to make the chicken pox come out more. (My mother put her foot down on that one). She dreamed about my father hurting his leg and within 4 weeks he did. She dreamed about my daughter's eyes and within 4 weeks my daughter had to have eye surgery. She also told me that even though my daughter would marry before my son, her marriage would not work. She was an awesome woman and Grandmother.
