Arlene A. Eberhardt, 75, 9011 Elm Street, Wisconsin Rapids (Town of Grant), died Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner. Rev. Kevin Ader will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. Arlene was born on February 1, 1934, in Wisconsin Rapids to Elmo and Bessie (Fate) Leach. She graduated from Port Edwards High School in 1952. She married Laurence Olson in 1952 with the marriage ending in divorce. She married Gordon Eberhardt on October 29, 1969. Arlene drove school bus for Safe-Way Bus Transit for 43 years, retiring in 2006. She was the family historian, spending countless hours researching family ancestry. Arlene and Gordy enjoyed spending their summers at the cabin on Mille Lacs in Minnesota, catching perch. She also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and her husband were charter members of the Kellner Knights Snowmobile Club and had many snowmobiling stories to share. Survivors include her husband: Gordon of Wisconsin Rapids; four children: Charlotte (Paul) Goldberg of Arpin, Daniel (Patti) Olson of Woodstock, Georgia, Jodi Eberhardt (Tony Lomma) and Todd Eberhardt, both of Wisconsin Rapids; six grandchildren: Rob Barnes of Spring Green, James (Sarah) Barnes of Woodstock, Georgia, Kevin (Lana) Goldberg of Crivitz, Lisa (Troy) Ortscheid of Wisconsin Rapids, Jeremy Olson of Sylva, North Carolina, and Scott (Sara) Goldberg of Nekoosa; nine great-grandchildren: Tara, Kelsey, Logan and Fox Barnes, all of Woodstock, Georgia, Jacob Jinsky, Haley Goldberg and Jeff Ortscheid, all of Wisconsin Rapids and Della and Karlie Goldberg, both of Crivitz; one brother: David (Gloria) Leach of Onamia, Minnesota; her stepmother: Lorraine Leach of Port Edwards; her stepsister: Kerri Harding; half-sister: Deb Roberts; sisters-in-law: Susan Alft of Wisconsin Rapids and Linda (Craig) Schlottman of Marion, Indiana; brother-in-law: Donald (Gayle) Eberhardt of Wisconsin Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother- and father-in-law (John and Leona Eberhardt), her twin sister (Marlene Hilger) and two brothers-in-law (Jim Hilger and Francis Alft).
Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
