My dad was born in Bishopville South Carolina in 1905, he and mom moved to North Charleston at the out break of World War 2 where he tried to enlist in the military but was not accepted due to his age. Not giving up and determined to do something for his country during this crisis he went to work at the Charleston Naval Base in the shipyard where he helped build ships. After the war was over he became a fire fighter for the North Charleston Fire Department and worked there for 28 years until his retirment in 1973. He and Mom were married for 55 years. I was blessed to have him as a father. His granddaughter Stephanie was the light of his life. We truly miss him.
