He was a son of Alexander & Margaret Raeside McCualsky of Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland. He married Agnes Hall in 1841, Campbeltown. He was a joiner and resided in Campbeltown. He is buried at Kilkerran Cemetery, Campbeltown, Scotland. (A memorial marker has been placed at Rockland Cem., Belpre, OH at the grave of his wife, Agnes)
