Paul retired in 1989 from General Motors after 36 years of service. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a worshipful Master of Englewood Lodge 715 in Indpls., a member of the Sahara Grotto in Indpls & past treasurer for the marching unit of Syrian Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a member of All York Rite Bodies and 32nd Mason, and a Kentucky Colonel. At the time of his death, Paul had been married to Martha Elizabeth Altmeyer Sumner Rose for over 20 years. He was a beloved stepfather of Sharon and her husband, Charles Fields, and stepfather of Ronald Sumner, a beloved stepgrandfather of Kimberly, Teresa (Traci) Lynn Fields (listed on findagrave for Hamilton County, OH - Traci was 16 years old when she passed away from leukemia) and Chuck Fields, and a beloved great stepgrandfather of Sean Donovan, John and Collin Fields. He was a great treasure and very much loved by his stepfamily. He was a precious gift from GOD!

This song always reminds me of him:

When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new
It always winds up feeling more like a job interview
My mama used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone
Who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run
I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old
He took my mom out to a movie and for once I got to go
A few months later I remember lying there in bed
I overheard him pop the question and I prayed that she'd say yes
And then all of a sudden ah it seemed so strange to me
How we went from something's missing to a family
Lookin' back all I can say about all the things he did for me
Is I hope I'm at least half the dad that he didn't have to be
I met the girl who's now my wife about three years ago

Paul was the son of Lilly Crider Rose and Sidney Rose.
