Eugenio Kincaid came to California in 1857 via New York City. He workd for Western Union Telegraph Co. laying some of the first telegraph cables between Nevada and California. He later purchased land in the Lugo area and went into farming. He also purchased land in what is now downtown Los Angeles and established some of the first orange groves.
