Son of Winfield Scott Settle and Elizabeth Alberson. Worked in the oil fields and continued to work there for twelve years, as a oil pumper. He was a farmer on 80 acres of the old homestead, and gave considerable attention to breeding Chester White hogs.

Obituary from the Thursday, Nov. 7, 1957 Montpelier Herald newspaper, p.1, Col.2: SETTLE, Thomas J.,79, died Tuesday at home in Nottingham Twp., Wells County. Son of Winfield and Elizabeth Albertson Settle; married to Eva Sheppard, who died July, 1957. Survived by 2 sons, Richard and Lloyd; 3 brothers, James, Charles and Walter; a sister, Mrs. Olive Templin; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Transcribed by B.Litke.
