Paulina was the eldest daughter of two, of Frederick and Hattie (Dilka) Wagner. Her sister was Caroline. She immigrated to US with her parents at age of 4 years old, from Germany. They came aboard the ship Adonis in 1855 from Bremen and landed in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland. Records are found for the family in Pennsylvania, Indiana and Illinois. She married John Franklin Attebery in Atlanta, Logan, Illinois on 28 may 1874. They left Illinois and relocated in Jacksonville, Jackson, Oregon in 1877. They had a family of 9 Sons and 1 Daughter.
