Joseph Frank Zalewski served in the US Army Infantry during America's involvement in World War I (1917-1918). He fought with the 86th Division, Company B, 331st Machine Gun Battalion. Unfortunately, his military records were destroyed in a fire in 1973 at the National Personnel Records Center - St Louis, Missouri. After the war, Joseph returned to Milwaukee where he served with distinction on Milwaukee's municipal police force from 1918 until his retirement in 1951.
