Civil War Veteran: Corp. H Co. 3rd Tennessee Mounted Calvary; Union Volunteer. Postmaster, Deputy U.S. Marshal, dry goods store owner, Union Scout, "bushwacker."
Died one night while returning home in his horse buggy from visiting his ailing daughter. His horse followed the trail and brought him home.
Six foot-four inches tall and 250 lbs. At one point is said to have a beard that he could sit on.
