Minnie was the daughter of Benjamin and Lucinda (McLellan) Kelly. As a child, she worked her board in a neighboring town in order to take advantage of their schools. She became a school teacher, marrying Stewart McFadden. She lived her entire life in Trescott. Among her favorite memories were entering the finger of the Statue of Liberty and touching the crack in the Liberty Bell.
