Daughter of David Albert McGoldrick and Mary May Poteet. Sister of David Albert, Harry H., and Henry. At age 15 Ella married Jim Harper and moved with him to Tacoma, WA, where Jim was a merchant. Ella gave birth to her son, Delmer, 10 months after she was married, and died 2 days later of an infection and resulting seizures. She was 16 years old.
Her son was raised by his paternal grandparents and an aunt who lived with them in Georgia. A descendant of one of her siblings said that Ella's parents, in Missouri, never met their grandson and always regretted that.
