Jeff was a very good friend of mine. We attended Mt. Empire High School together from 1981 to 1982. Jeff lived in Pine Valley, CA at the time. He was a junior and I was a senior.
We were in the drama club together, and acted in four plays. Most notably, we played best friends in the Neil Simon play of "The Gingerbread Lady." That production won "Play of the Year" for the year of 1982, and we both won dramatic awards for our performances.
Jeff was also a member of the photography club at MEHS. I am happy that his love of photography was able to become his occupation in life after high school.
Unfortunately, we lost contact after I graduated in 1982.
This is what I learned about Jeff:
Jeff was a photographer in Salem Oregon.
He had been HIV positive since 1985. He contracted AIDS in 1988. In 1990, he developed a severe sinus infection which resulted in Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis. I looked that up and discovered it is a blood clot in the cavernous sinus. The cause of cavernous sinus thrombosis is usually a bacterial infection that has spread from the sinuses, ears, eyes, nose, or skin of the face.
It breaks my heart to know that at the age of 20, he contracted that horrible virus, and knew he had a limited time to live.
According the information I obtained, he passed away in the hospital.
His remains were cremated. I don't know the location of his ashes.
