It is with regret that my mother has announced the death of the last remaining Shoudt sibling. Aunt Lil, I honour your life, your loving presence at celebrations, and your concern for your family. Love, Mary Jo

Lil was the fifth of eight children of Frank Norman Shoudt and Anna Mariah 'Rita' Burroughs. She grew up in Upper Black Eddy and Trenton, Mercer Co., New Jersey.

She had to leave school early in order to work during the Great Depression. She was employed at Riegel Paper in Milford and the Frenchtown Porcelain Company, both in Hunterdon Co. She was always a hard worker and generous with her time and money.

As a young adult, Lil lived with the family of her brother, Harry K. Shoudt, in Milford for 12 years.

She married the widower Miro 'Roy' Scholtz on Oct. 30, 1954 in Sergeantsville, Hunterdon Co. Lil raised two of his three children.

Lil and Roy lived on a blueberry farm in Kingwood Twp., Hunterdon Co. for many years before retiring to Florida. They returned to reside in Milford shortly before Roy's death.

She was a very active member of the United Church of Christ in Milford.

Lil moved to Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown when her dementia impaired her independence.

She was an integral part of every celebration with her extended family. She loved the festive season. She used to be delighted to buy a Christmas gift for every one of her 21 nieces and nephews. She enjoyed baking and will be remembered with fondness for her New York cheesecake, blueberry buckle, pound cake, broccoli cheese casserole and mini cherry cheesecakes.

Lil was a lot of fun, and her sense of humor earned her many loving nicknames from her family: Aunt Little, Aunt 717 and Aunt Thrill.

She is buried next to her brother Harry. She will be sadly missed.
