Grandma Bick was married at the age of 18 and within a few short years had accompanied her husband and two small children to Nebraska. There she bore her third child, a little girl with a very prominent wine stain birthmark on her arm.
Unfortunately, all their plans and dreams did not materialize, as shortly after the birth of this little girl, Grandpa Bick died and was returned back to MO for burial. Grandma accompanied the body on this trip, along with her little children. Her parents were still living on their farm near St. Patrick, and Grandma returned to live with them. After they passed away, Uncle Walter inherited the farm and made a home there for his sister and her children and continued to farm there until his death. ****** Margaret Amelia, daughter of Elizabeth and Jonas Hess, was born August 16, 1863 on the farm near St. Patrick in Clark county, and passed away June 7, 1948, having spent her entire life there, excepting three years she lived in Hastings, Nebraska. On May 16, 1882 she was united in marriage to Lewis Wesley Bick, who passed away in 1887. Three children were born to this union, Walter Theodore Bick of Canton; Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Riney, of Quincy and Mrs. Lily Edith Riney, who passed away in Oct. 1939. Two grandchildren preceded her in death, also her parents, two brothers and six sisters, she being the last of a family of nine. Besides her children she leaves four granddaughters, four grandsons, 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. While a young girl she united with the German Methodist church. Funeral services were held June 9, in the home of her son, W. T. Bick. Interment was in Forest Grove.
