Frank T. Oldham, Sr., was born to Owen Otto Oldham and Lillie Mae Miller Oldham in 1907. He died on December 27, 1928, in Coraopolis, PA, after being injured in a construction accident some weeks before. He had survived the amputation of his left leg and seemed to be recovering. However, the wound later became infected and he needed a second operation. Sadly, though, Frank was not strong enough to withstand the second surgery, and he died a few hours later.
Frank's remains were returned to Ripley, WV, and laid in state at the home of his father-in-law, E. H. Knapp. Then, the body was displayed for a short time at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. O. O. Oldham in Evans, WV, because all the members of the Oldham family were confined by illness and unable to attend the funeral.
Funeral services were held on December 31, 1928, at the United Brethren Church with the Rev. T. L. Miles officiating. Frank was buried at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Ripley, WV.
In addition to many other relatives (including his brothers Roy, Eddie, George, and John and his sisters Viola, Elizabeth and Faye) and friends, Frank T. Oldham, Sr., was survived by his widow, Hazel, and by his only child, 14 month-old Franklin Tracey Oldham, Jr.
