John Thomas Moore Tharp, husband of Olive R. Dailey Tharp and the son of Hiram Jackson and Chrystianna Somers Groah Tharp.

Obituary of John T. Tharp (Many Errors)

John V. Thrope, 87 pioneer farmer of the Salt Lick section died at an early hour Sunday. Mr. Thorpe was the son of H. H. and Christine Grove Thorpe. He was born in the district, January 8, 1851.

He was twice married, first to Miss Olive Daily of Wetzel County, near Reader. There wer 11 children to that union of whom seven survive: J. A. Thorpe, B. F. Thorpe, Mrs Razena Newman, New Martinsville, W. M. Thorpe, Mrs Alta Whiteman, Pittsburgh; Mrs J. E. Kesler, Slippery Rock, PA; Mrs. Mary King, Deer Island, Ore. There are also 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren living.

Mr. Thorpe was married the second time to Miss Nancy Leasure of Jacksonburg, September 26, 1906. The widow and a step son Glenn Thorpe, also survive. Herman Thorpe of Oregon and Mrs. Druzella Morrow of Fairmont are brother and sister of the deceased.

Mr. Thorpe united with the Reader Methodist Episcopal church in 1905. The funeral services were held in the Huey and Jones funeral home in Main Street at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning with the Rev. E. E. Suite in charge. Burial was made at Jacksonburg in the Lantz Cemetery.
