Tammy Vance Alberthal sailed away on her final cruise on Monday May 30, 2011 from her home in Boerne, Texas. She was born on June 22, 1960 in Amarillo, Texas, to Cecil and Pat Vance.

Tammy grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas, graduating from Brazoswood High School in 1978. She attended Brazosport Junior College in Lake Jackson, Texas. She moved to San Antonio in 1984 to work at UT Health Science Center. During that time she went back to college at night and graduated Summa Cum Laude earning her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree from SWTSU in December 1987. Special friends Bubba and Vickie Reilly were instrumental in her meeting and marrying Mark Wayne Alberthal on October 1, 1994. In December of 1995 they moved into their home in Boerne Texas, where they attended St. John Lutheran Church. She went to work at USAA in San Antonio in 1997 and was currently I/T Lead Software Developer.

Tammy was very active in church, serving in many capacities. She loved her family and pets with all her heart. She loved to go on cruises, going on 18 different cruises to 35 countries with her husband. She had many friends and touched the lives of everyone around her. She fought a long hard battle with cancer and never once gave up.

Tammy is survived by her husband Mark Wayne Alberthal; her parents Cecil and Pat Vance of Santa Anna Texas; her brother Terry Don Vance of Temple, Texas; her sister and brother-in-law Teena Gayle and Arthur W. Walls of Lake Jackson, Texas; her niece Nikki Renee Holcomb of Lake Jackson, Texas; mother-in-law Josephine Alberthal of Fredericksburg, Texas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law David and Diane Alberthal of San Antonio, Texas and Charlie and Kathie Alberthal of Colorado Springs, Colorado; many Alberthal nieces and nephews; her 2 precious poodles Cherish and Selena, and her 2 darling dachshunds Milo and Heidi.

The family would like to thank all the many people who walked with Tammy on her journey. Visitation was at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home on Friday June 3,2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm 111 Rosewood Avenue, Boerne, Texas 78006. Funeral Service was at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday June 4, 2011 at 10:00 am. 315 E. Rosewood Boerne, Texas 78006 with the Rev Henry Schulte and Rev Jeff Carpenter officiating. Interment was at the Boerne Cemetery. Arrangements were with Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home, Boerne, Texas.

Pallbearers were Mickey Cross, Jim Cross, Tom Cross, Joe Taylor, Brad Day and Bill Rader.

Honorary Pallbearers were Bob Runion, Bubba Reilly, John Hearn, Steve Gaydou, Jay Jaggard and Gabriel Hill.
