My great-great-grandmother. Her parents were George and Ann Webb Jones. Bessie lost her mother as an infant and her father at age 7; thus she was raised mostly by her stepmother and the stepmother's 2nd husband. Bessie married George Williams in 1884. They then immigrated to the States and had 5 children, the oldest of whom was Herbert (my great-grandpa).

Below is a newspaper account of how Bessie died.

POCATELLO SUICIDE

Mrs. George Williams Jumps Into the Portneuf River

Pocatello, Aug. 16 - (Special) The body of a woman was found in the Portneuf at the foot of Center street this evening. She had evidently been in the water several days and was identified as the wife of George Williams. She had evidently committed suicide.

Mr. Williams was for many years car inspector here but for the past two years has lived at Logan, Utah.

He was here yesterday looking for his wife, who he said had left home last Thursday, as he supposed, in a fit of mental aberration.

She was seen here Friday Morning but then disappeared.
