WOODSTOCK — Marigold Evangeline "Goldie" Thurlow Mason, 67, of West Paris, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, Sept. 29.

She was born in Woodstock on Aug. 6, 1935, the daughter of Bernal and Hope Appleby Thulow. She was educated at the Forestdale Seventh Day Adventist Church School in Woodstock, Browning Memorial Elementary School and South Lancaster Academy in South Lancaster, Mass., where she met life-long mate, James Lowell Mason Sr. They were married on Sept. 6, 1952. For those 50 years, they made their home on Curtis Hill in West Paris, while raising three children and seven grandchildren. During this time, "Goldie" received degrees in dental hygiene and practical nursing. Because of her great desire to help others, she always made herself available whether she was well or not, to aid anyone in need. For years, she headed up the community services for the South Woodstock Seventh Day Adventist Church, while serving on the church and church school board.

She enjoyed doing many projects that involved all of the children at Forestdale School, right up until her untimely death. She also served as camp nurse for Lawroweld's Blind Camp, Junior Camp and at the annual Northern New England SDA meeting in Freeport, Maine.
