Carl Hoff was the beloved husband of Olga for 65 years; father of Catherine Mount (Clarence) and Karen Lafnear (James); grandfather of Patricia Edwards, Susan Davis, Jayne Bannister (William) and Steve Lafnear; great-grandfather of Dan and Troy Edwards, Erica Davis, and Troy Edwards, Jessica and Alan Bannister; brother of Einar Hoff of Lillehammer, Norway and Mathilde Madsen of Norway, Bergen. Mr. Hoff was retired from Pontiac Motors Divison and was a member of the Sons of Norway Samhold Lodge #473 in Pontiac. His name appears on the Wall of Honor at Ellis Island. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Auburn Hills. Mr. Hoff brought his family to Michigan to start a new life for him and his family, but Olga and their daughters returned to Norway during the Depression. During World War II they were forced to live apart from each other, exchanging letters about their lives apart. These letters were collected by their daughters and made into a book called "Six Years To Sunrise."
