Marjorie was the only child born to Ruth R. Deppman and Edward O. Blackburn. Her parents divorced, twice, and she was raised primarily by her strict grandmother, Emma Deppman.

She married Stanley V. Johnson on June 29, 1934, and of this union two daughters were born, Barbara and Bonnie. Marjorie attended the National College of Education and obtained her teaching certificate, but with the birth of her children became a stay-at-home mom.

The family lived in Illinois until retirement age, when Stanley and Marjorie relocated to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They spent many happy years there, and became the grandparents of 10, and were the greatgrandparents of 14 by the time Marjorie died. She developed Alzheimer's Disease in the early 1990's and slowly forgot who she was, and who her family was. She did, however, still enjoy being around people, and always greeted people with child-like delight, even in the final days of her illness.

Shortly before her death they returned to Illinois to be closer to family members. Stanley was her primary care-taker, at the age of 92!
