Catherine Dorothy Daily was born Catherine Dorothy Williams on November 30, 1939. Her parents were George Thomas Williams Sr., and Catherine Maebel Williams(nee Lowndes). She was their only daughter, but she had a cousin Mitzie who she thought of as a sister. Her brothers were George Thomas Williams Jr., Edward Herbert Williams Sr.,and Thomas Washington Williams Sr. Another brother, twin to Edward Williams, only lived a few hours. His name was John Richard Williams. Catherine would later name her second born son John Richard in his honor and memory.
Catherine married Robert Joseph Daily Sr. when she was 19 years old. They divorced later in life, but had five children together: Robert Joseph Daily Jr., John Richard Daily Sr., Patricia Ann Daily(me), Karen Lynn Daily, and Kevin Scott Daily. She miscarried a boy before the other five were born. She loved her family, doted on her children, and later her Grandchildren. Each grandchild was a blessing to her.
She was an active Baptist all her life, a woman who truly believed in God. During the last years of her life, when she was in the hospital more than she was out, as her minister would comment later at her funeral, she loved the children of the church and would bring little surprises for them whenever she was there. She never had much financially, having raised five kids on her own, but she shared everything she had with others. He commented also on the joy that she would spread when she was in church, never complaining about her health problems, but rather celebrating the chance to be there and worship.
As a mother, she was the best. I was truly blessed. We had our differences, but she was always there for me when I needed her. As a single Mom, the two of us looked after each other for years. I miss my best friend so much. Mom had the warmest smile, and did this cute little dance that is hard to describe, but makes everyone who has ever seen it smile still. Towards the end of her life she was learning to use the computer, and was getting pretty good at emailing, sufing the internet, and playing games. Throughout her life, she was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley. She also loved her little dog, Cheyenne very much.
