The son and third of five children of Julius Michael Heintz and Anna M. Bublitz Heintz, William Ferdinand Heintz, Sr. was born September 23, 1900 in Sumter, McLeod County, Minnesota. William served in both World War I and World War II, and he served in the U. S. Navy from 1951 till 1961 where he was a Tradesman Chief Petty Officer (CPO). He married Dorothy Donnelly Heintz on September 4, 1926 in Canastota, Madison County, New York, and they had four children: Mary Ellen Heintz Steward, William Ferdinand Heintz, Jr., Anne Heintz Reed, and Nancy Heintz. William died March 22, 1962 in Jacksonville, Duvall County, Florida and is buried near his wife at Saint Agatha Cemetery in Canastota, Madison County, New York.
