Newspaper publisher. Known as E.F., he merged the Idaho Falls Post with the Idaho Register in 1931 to create the Post Register, which has circulated in most of eastern Idaho ever since. During the Depression of the 1930s, he founded the Goodfellow Fund, to which Post Register readers donate every Christmas to help needy families. He retired shortly before his death; J Robb Brady Jr succeeded him as publisher. McDermott Baseball Field in Idaho Falls was named after him.
