My paternal grandfather.

Son of William Wilson Carmichael and Susanna Bailey.

Paternal grandparents: Thomas Carmichael b. abt. 1810 and Nancy Walker b. 1815.

Maternal grandparents: William Bailey and Margery Coppick (from one source not verified)..

He married Lillie (Lillian Melessia) Stansell on January 26, 1904 in Cisco, Eastland County, Texas. The couple had four children: Bernis Wilson b. July 17, 1906; Carlton James b. April 8, 1908; Loveta Mae b. May 24, 1912; Ruth Aileen b. December 31, 1914.

L.M. moved from Cisco, Texas to Kenna, New Mexico in about 1907. He was a retail merchant in Kenna for several years along with his brothers, Thomas and Charles. In 1911 the family moved to a homestead three miles southeast of Kenna. In later years L.M. engaged in several business ventures in Eastern New Mexico and West Texas while continuing to operate a ranch at Kenna.

The following article appeared in the Kenna Record on November 4, 1910.

"The Carmichael Lumber Co., one of the pioneers of the town, has sold out its grocery and hardware business, and most of the company buildings, to the new-comers, whose arrival we mentioned last week, the transaction involving several thousand dollars. The purchaser is T. M. Parkinson, a former Texas farmer of considerable means. Mr. Parkinson has also bought the Mc. Carmichael residence property, which he will occupy with his family."
