My grandfather Donald, was born in Austin, Minnesota. He moved as a small child with his family to Iowa, then on to
Illinois. He was the oldest of 4 children born to Anna Sperry and Harold Sperry and the loving step-son of Augusta Sperry

He met my grandmother, Esther Sperry when he was a small child and a friendship formed. My Grandma always told me she knew even as a child she would marry my Grandpa someday. They were married on Saturday October 10, 1942. On that following Monday, he left to do his part for our country in World War II. There wasn't any time for a honeymoon, nor any money. He returned home safely in 1945 to his wife, and saw his baby daughter for the first time. A son would follow years later.

My Grandpa along with my Grandma
owned one of the finest drycleaning establishments for over 30 years. My fondest memories are the times I spent there. My Grandpa was the sweetest, kindest man. He would have given you the shirt off of his back if you needed it, without hesitation. He loved to golf, belonged
to many bowling leagues, and loved watching sports on tv. He enjoyed playing the concertina and the guitar, and
just loved country music...
He was also a sharp dresser, and always looked so nice. He had the nicest handwriting for a man that I have ever seen. His eyes just showed kindness when you looked in them. He
is loved and terribly missed by his family....

Donald was the brother and step-brother of Rolland, Robert, Arno, George
Leona, and Betty Lou...

My Grandpa taught me that when you make a promise, you keep a promise..
