Married Claude Sanders (1912-1989) in 1934, divorced in 1944. Four children: Carolyn Joyce (Hunter), Robert Allen (1939-1970), Ray Carlton (1939-1971), Janice Ann (Wilkinson). Irene worked as a nurse, and after her son Robert died she raised his son.
